I’m applying ED to Brown. On my application, I put engineering under the first concentration that I was interested in and computer science under the second. Both of these require that I write extra essays about why I am interested in these areas of study and what experiences I have had with these fields. Later in the Brown application, there is another question that asks about why I am drawn to the areas of study that I indicated earlier-- the thing is, I have already talked about that extensively in 2 separate essays. I don’t want to be redundant in my application so I was thinking of briefly mentioning computer science & engineering again and then using that essay to discuss the areas of study that I am interested in outside of the sciences and tie that into Brown’s open curriculum. I just don’t want to repeat things that I said earlier in the application and I want to use this essay to showcase another part of myself. Do you guys think that’s OK?

I feel like that could work, especially considering that brown encourages its students to obviously study what they want to study (and know they are interested in), but also to be open to exploring the things they do not know they are interested in quite yet
You could do anything that works for you. My son put engineering number 1 and picked a major that didn’t require a second essay as his number 2 choice simply because he didn’t want to write a second essay. He felt he had said all that he needed to for admissions. It worked for him - he got in ED.
Food for thought – make a listing of things about yourself (facts, stories) that you want to share in your application. Then try to find a place for each one of those items. Starting this way, sometimes, can help you answer questions that seem redundant - you may have a different story to tell in those different places on the application, even though the questions appear to be the same. My best suggestion is that is that your application should be personal, as if nobody else could have written it but you! Good luck!!
You can always call admissions too 
So you might try reworking the essays, and put the engineering stuff under the engineering prompts. Change the first essay. Use all your space to tell the college all about you.
This question gets asked every single year. I really wish admissions would change these essay prompts!
