<p>So this has probably been answered a few dozen times but does anyone know how long this supplement essay is supposed to be? is there any ballpark number? say 250? 300? 500 words? Thanks!</p>

<p>I think around 500 words should be a good limit, but try to get your point across in fewer words if possible.</p>

<p>there’s really no limit. id say less than a page makes sense. mine was probably almost 700 but still on one page. it doesnt look any different from 500-600.</p>

<p>I wouldn’t focus on the word count and instead focus on making it a great essay. Word count harvard doesn’t seem to matter.</p>

<p>I didn’t write a supplementary essay. I felt like my Common App essay was effective enough in terms of conveying my interests, the way I think, and my aspirations for the future, within the context of a rather rare topic. I highly doubt anyone else applying to Harvard this year used the same topic as me. Remember - whatever you send in will also be judged, so a poorly written/uninspired supplementary essay could actually hurt an applicant’s chances.</p>
