Supplement essay

I wrote my supplement essay (topic of my choice) on my military brat lifestyle and described it. I basically emphasized travel, exposure to cultural diversity, and meeting friends who come from all around the world. I wanted to describe myself as a domestic applicant with the qualities of an international applicant. Would that work… or should I focus on another part of me?

I think that essay does work, as long as it is not expository (i.e.; not just a travel log of where you’ve been) and focused more on the personal aspects of what you have learned and how you have grown. It’s definitely a big part of your life, and makes for an interesting topic.

That essay can work if it’s written well.

One of my friends wrote about the same topic and got positive feedback from admissions officers about his essay (as well as admittance of course).

Just be sure the essay focuses on how your lifestyle grown up impacted you, your choices, your life outlook etc. and that it is not a travelogue. (I’m not sure you need to compare yourself to an international applicant though – just be you).

Thank you for all the responses
