The supplement head says due dec. 1st. Is my app invalid because I didn't submit mine then?

It is due tomorrow morning - submit quickly!!!

You have until the 1st of January at 11:59 to submit. That is a lot of time.

I never understand what a school means by “Jan 1”-do they mean the midnight between Dec 31 and Jan 1? or 11:59pm of Jan 1?

Anyway, it doesn’t matter since I submitted all of my apps on the 28th :)

they mean midnight on jan 1st.

I submitted. But I still don’t unerstand why the supplement says submit by December 1st.

That is just the recommend deadline. The mandatory deadline is tomorrow.

When Harvard stopped offering early decision a few years back, they started asking applicants to consider sending applications in earlier, but emphasized that the timing of the application made absolutely no difference in the way the applications were evaluated. The benefit to admissions is that staggering the applications prevents a tidal wave on Jan. 1st, a function previously served by early decision. This is only a matter of benefit to the admissions folks, not to the applicants, and they certainly don’t hold a Jan. 1st submission against anyone- that is the real deadline, afterall.

Oh OK. Thanks.

Exactly what compmom said. Dec 1 is only a recommended deadline-it’s the day when admissions start reviewing applications. The “drop dead date”, so to speak, is Jan 1.
