Ok so I'm a bit lost and confused on how to begin on three of these supplement questions, please help if you can, it would be greatly appreciated :)

Why Rochester? - The University of Rochester is one of two universities listed by The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching as arts-and-science focused, medium-sized, and highly residential, with comprehensive PhD programs, medical schools, and very high research activity. Both offer undergraduates an unusual degree of freedom in their curriculum. Which of these characteristics (or others) are leading you to apply to Rochester?

I think I want for focus on the arts-and-science focused and freedom aspects but do not know where to go wit those.

The next two are for the University of Virginia

What work of art, music, science, mathematics, or literature has surprised, unsettled, or challenged you, and in what way?

My problem with this question is that I do not believe if they have ever surprised, unsettled, or challenged, if that makes sense? Like perhaps I like or do not like something but never been shock or unsettled, do not know how to proceed.

Answer one of the following questions in a half page or roughly 250 words:
What is your favorite word and why?
Describe the world you come from and how that world shaped who you are.
Discuss your favorite place to get lost. (This question was written by U.Va. students who live in one of residential colleges, Brown College at Monroe Hill.)
Discuss something you secretly like but pretend not to, or vice versa.

Ok these are very odd questions in my opinion, and thoughts or ideas?

Thank you!! :)
