The supplement asks for your class rank. It says If precise rank is not available, please estimate, as "top tenth," "top quarter," etc.

My school does not rank, nor does it make its "estimate" available to students. I honestly have no idea where I fall rank-wise. (People at my school don't even know who the valedictorian will be.) Is it OK if I just put "NR" or "n/a"? Can't Harvard just look on the counselor/school report?

If I remember right it also says if your school doesn't rank just put down the class size. So it doesn't really matter.. my school doesn't rank either and I've just put down class size.

Ummm... I just opened the School Report form on Harvard's website- it has a Harvard supplement to the School Report. I only gave the Common App School Report to my counselor. This is fine right? I'm so confused. :-/

yes, it is required;
the common app doesn't mention it b/c it isn't a part of the common app;
harvard put it there
"The purpose of this recommendation is to assist the Admissions Committee in making a decision and, if the applicant
enrolls, to aid in making rooming assignments and to assist the student in other ways. Because inadequate information
can sometimes diminish a student’s chances for admission, a full and candid report is essential. We ask, therefore, for
careful ratings and comments about characterand ability by a school official who knows the student well. Your report
will be read thoroughly by admissions officers and later reviewed by the Admissions Committee as it votes on the
student’s case."

you are right, it is kind of ambiguous whether it is necessary or not... but if you look at the mailing labels - one is called "school report I and II" - so i'm assuming it is either necessary or highly desired

omg... I had NO idea there was the school report had a supplement. Sigh. What can I do now? All my stuff is mailed.

I never looked at the mailing labels. My school has a strict procedure for college stuff- all school stuff (transcripts, school report, profile, recommendations) goes in one envelope, they label the outside, seal it up, then either send it off or give it to the student to send.

If there are (at least) two people just on CC who didn't know, I would think it happens quite often. It's really unclear.
