Hi so I am currently working on my Smith supplement. Any chance I could run a few ideas by anyone? I honestly have no idea how to approach this question. I come from a family where gifts tend to be things that are needed, not things that are desired. My friends and I don't really do the whole gift thing. We usually make things ourselves. The only things I can think of are incredibly personal and I don't want to really open that subject in 150 words...

I was thinking about writing about a deck of cards I was given when I was in the hospital for an ED. A really good friend of mine gave me a deck of affirmations that someone had given her some 15 years ago when she was going through the same thing. It's a deck of 52 cards (like a normal deck of cards) and each one has an affirmation and illustration on either side. These cards got me through a lot because they meant that someone else had gotten through anorexia and survived so maybe I could too. So really, it isn't about the cards but the hope they gave me for a better future. And, over two years later, I have gotten through it as well. I mean, I know it's something that will be present for the rest of my life, but it doesn't govern me the way it did.

Is this too personal?
