so the one page requirement for the Carnegie Mellon... it's limited to one page, but I was wondering about the margins. I know it is standard for the 1" all around margins, but I was wondering if is acceptable to make the margins a little smaller... or the font a little smaller (I'm using Times 12) to make my supplement fit into one page.

If it says 1 inch margins stick to that b/c you never truly know what software they will use to retrieve it from the CommonAp and reload to their own internal system.
Easier to simply change from 12 point to 11 point font perhaps?

The software issue varies by schools-- so extending the margin could work out fine somewhere and then not at all in another environment.

there is no way your supplement should be longer than a page with 12pt times and 1 inch margins. if you are trying to make it smaller i would say that its way too long. you should consider cutting it down and focus on answering the question. they don’t want to read such long supplements. answer the info show why your awesome but don’t burden them with a lengthy essay that you are trying to fake into fitting.
