I'm not sure whether to enclose a supplement with my application. I have some artistical talent and i'm copy editor for my school paper. Would it make sense to submit either of these works as a supplement?

every school has a copy editor, editor in chief, etc. Submitting sample articles provides nothing that thousands of other kids can't provide, and if they wanted it they'd ask for it. They don't, because they don't have time to read thru the deluge that would ensue. What they care about are objective evaluations of your skills; have you won awards in journalism contests? They DO ask about that, and take note if you've won.

As for the art talent, that can be a win if you have genuine talent. This means a teacher or someone else knowledgeable in the field saying "this is great work for a HS kid; most other kids in art can't do this". If you submit art samples the adcoms don't know anything about it so they send it over to a prof in the art dept for evaluation. If they like it then its a plus and helps you, but if they says its schlock and "we don't want this kid" then it will hurt your app.
