Supplemental Application for Transfer students

I am a transfer student that applied to SDSU and I know there is a supplemental application to do during January but I have not gotten an emial and it is not posted on the portal
Is anybody else having this problem ?
Should I call them ?

Thank you

mine has not shown up yet. were you able to get a hold from admissions?

I called SDSU admissions today. Appears that we all just have to wait until they send out an email?

@mpen181 I have not called them yet but the words "supplemental application: " appeared but no link

@umberial thank you for letting me know that is very helpful I was about to call them

I don’t know if this will help you guys, but I had to do this process a couple of years ago. I dug up the old email, and here was my experience. In 2014, the supplemental application didn’t open up until Friday January 17 (4:30pm). I received an email, and it gave a due date (in 2014) of February 7.

That said, what I think is likely to happen is you are likely to get something next week. Another possibility, since today is a Friday, is you might get something in the next couple of hours. I think next week is much more probable though.

@TMsdsu14 thank you so much for this information !! very helpful and if you dont mind me asking what were your stats when you got into SDSU ? and were you a transfer student ?

The due date is january 25th for the supplemental, so here’s hoping that opens up soon.

@StilesStyles I got in with TAG and at the time I applied, I was already on to my second course taken at SDSU with cross-enrollment. Here part of my original post:

Major - Computer Science
Location - San Diego (Local Admissions Area)
GPA - 3.11
Completed - IGETC, Golden Four, and all Major Preparation Courses.
Tag-
–60 unit minimum - Complete
–General Education - Complete
–Major Preparation - Complete
–Grade Point Average - Complete
–Prior SDSU Coursework - Complete (A 4.0 is being maintained for my SDSU coursework.)
AS-T- NO

If you’re going to do TAG, be extremely mindful of the AS-T.

@TMsdsu14 thank you for sharing !

@TMsdsu14 Hey I have another question I think you might know the answer to. I just did my supplemental application (it was posted today) and for the major preparation courses there are two courses that are listed as “no comparable course” at my community college (this is from assist.org and TAP) is this bad? or does SDSU know that those classes are listed as “no comparable course” at my community college ?

@StilesStyles I was in the same boat too; I had two major prep courses that weren’t offered at my local community college and were listed as having “no comparable course.” What I did was take the two courses at SDSU with cross-enrollment. Those were the two courses I mentioned previously.

As I recall, the cross-enrollment program allowed a student to take one lower-division course at SDSU per semester. So the year prior to applying, I made it a point to do just that. This program, however, is an agreement between local community colleges and SDSU, if I recall correctly.

Before circling back to your questions, however, I want to preface what I’m about to say by letting you know that I am not 100% certain. I am confident in my response, but you should of course use your best judgement. (CYA on my part basically.)

SDSU does know that the courses are not offered at your community college, especially if your college is local. In the past, I have seen similar questions with responses that basically say that it isn’t bad and should not affect your application. This doesn’t excuse you from taking them in the future, of course.

If you’re looking for a quick answer, no it’s not bad and yes they do usually know.

@TMsdsu14 What if the accounting courses that I took have the same name but it shows as "
no comparable course".

@TMsdsu14 okay thank you so much again this helps me a lot !

@chrisinfinity Sorry, I don’t know anything about accounting. That might be something to discuss with your community college counselor as soon as possible.

On the other hand, I do believe you can input them manually into the supplemental application. I had to do that with a silly calculus course I took a while back. Keep in mind that even though the classes have the same name, “ACCTG-999 - Super Accounting Class” might mean one thing for your CC and an entirely different thing to SDSU.

My best advice is, rather than take a leap of faith, go see your counselor to at least get some sort of official answer before moving forward. Then make the call.

Does anyone know if you go to two different colleges in the same district, if you have to add the units separately? They are added together on my transcript.

@tanDLC if it is the same district no you do not have to add them separately I asked this question at a CSU workshop at my school and the girl in charge said to keep the units together bc its all in the same district

disclaimer: this is the answer I got at MY school it might be different at your school it might not, go to your school’s transfer center or ask a counselor to be positive

I completed the supplemental app but am still getting emails telling me to fill it out. Are these just generic emails or is there something else I need to do?

@jay956 I got an email to . I think it is just a reminder but as long as everything is filled out you are fine so just double check that everything is filled out correctly

I made a careless mistake when I submitted my application to the university. So, in the GPA part, I said that my overall GPA is 3.69 BUT I misread the whole thing and it actually asked for my TRANSFER gpa, which is a 3.65. Will that mistake completely affect my chances for admission? Should I notify the school about it?
