Supplemental Application?

I know that neither Berkeley nor any of the other U.C.'s require or even want one, but a few weeks ago I received an email from Cal asking me to fill out some supplementary questions on their application website, and send in a teacher's recommendation. I know that it's a legitimate thing from Cal because when I clicked the link, it took me to my login page for myberkeley.edu and, when I logged in, had the questions for me. I navigated to this page on my own (sans link) and everything was the same.

Has anybody else ever experienced this, and if so, what did you do and how did it work out regarding being admitted to Cal?

Thanks!

Hopefully your ten days are not up bud

They were up Feb. 6; no worries though, I sent it in before the 1st and everything. I was just wondering if anybody else was in a similar boat.

Thanks for the link!

yes, i also got the questionnaire. I hope i get in!

This is so freaky, I got an email Feb 11th, asking about an additional survey thing + letter of rec, but it was because they thought I was DISABLED. (I assume this is because I mentioned in an essay that I overcame depression in early highschool). I think and hope this is a different email and that I am NOT on the fringe of getting in / rejected since the questions were purely disablility related and I did not respond thanks to the advice of some that said filling something out like that could follow me for life. Hopefully this letter is totally different from what you guys got, and they are not just considering me because they think I am disabled. I have always assumed I was getting into UCB easilly, but UCLA would be a challenge. opinions, thoughts?

That's probably why they sent it to you. For me, my disability (see the thread that DanielHagos posted if you want details and/or stats) had a significant impact on my GPA, and once treatment began, things got a lot better, so I submitted the questionnaire.

In my opinion, Cal is a lot harder to get into vs. UCLA. Do you mind if I ask what your stats are?

sure.

People have told me Berkeley / UCLA are matches

so you think I got this disability thing because I'm on the fringe or because UCB is just being ultra liberal about disability? I mean not all kids on the fringe can be considered disabled right? Now I'm worried. I hope they are 2 different letters.

I'm sure you'll do just fine; those are pretty nice stats for Cal and UCLA. ELC and CSF definately helps. It depends on which majors you applied under, but Berkeley is more picky than UCLA from what I've heard. They don't always want the best, but the right ones (ergo the best aren't always right). Stay hopeful, though. Those stats will be great almost everywhere.

Well I always assumed I was getting into Berkeley, alot of kids get in from my school to Berkeley and very few to UCLA. I'm kind of worried if the disability thing counts as borderline because I did not fill it out, therefore hurting my chances. From reading on CC it was as I originally suspected, sent to everyone with a disability irregardless of stats and whatnot. So we'll see.
