Supplemental Housing

I still haven’t committed to a school and I’m currently between University of Florida and PSU. A deciding factor will certainly be housing. I put my housing deposit in fast for UF so I’ll likely be able to get the housing I desire, but I understand that at PSU I’m likely to get supplemental because I’d be putting my deposit in so late.

Any tips for avoiding supplemental if I end up choosing PSU? If not, I’ll probably just end up going to Florida…

It’s past the April 1st deadline, so it’s pretty much a guarantee that you’ll end up with supplemental. However, rooms do open up in the fall, so within the first few weeks, you’ll likely receive some sort of letter asking if you’d like to move to a double or single somewhere on campus. If you desperately want to avoid supplemental, there is a way out, although some people actually end up liking it. My one friend lives in a supplemental dorm in East with two other kids, and I actually think his room is a lot nicer than my traditional double.

A lot of people actually end up liking supplemental housing a lot, and some years it is not even used. However, you may also be offered a single/double room in the beginning of the school year as the person above said.
