Supplemental Housing

I accepted my offer of admission on April 5th. My roommate accepted before April 1st, so he’s ok. He knows there’s a chance he may get put in supplemental with me. What the chances are I get put in supplemental housing considering I only accepted a couple days after the April 1st cutoff? And how long do people usually have to stay in supplemental housing?

My son had a group of friends from high school that went to PSU and paired up to room together. One kid accepted on April 30 or whatever was the last day and he did not get supplemental, I assume because his roommate had accepted earlier.

A lot of people switch out of supplemental in the first few weeks as people drop out/change housing, but some people stay there the whole year. If the supplemental rooms are anything like the ones in Beaver I wouldn’t have much of an issue with them since they’re a lot more spacious than the dorms; you would just have to share it with seven other people (some of whom would probably move out). However, this year the incoming freshmen class is a lot bigger than expected so there are probably going to be strains on housing. But if your roommate accepted before April 1 and you BOTH indicated on your housing contracts that you wanted to be roommates, you should be okay because Housing tends to honor those kinds of roommate requests.
