supplemental info

I have put on my applications that one of my hobbies is painting... this is a genuine interest, but i do not plan on studying art in college. I am wondering whether it would be a good idea to send pictures of some of paintings as like... proof that i really do it. Do you think i should send it in, or is it irrelevant because i definitely trying to show my interest in the field i want to pursue for my career?

Do not send it as proof; colleges trust you. If you would like to showcase your talent, and if you have talent, you can send slides.

it's fine not showing proof.

I'm writing singing as mine as I take lessons but i'm not in choir or anything.

It's fine.

But do you think it helps me in any way if they like my paintings even though i am not interested in being a professional painter or anything?

it could if its high quality- cornell says to send in music supplements if you are exceptional, even if you do not want to be a music major. if they like it, it can be proof that you have committed yourself to a long term goal and have a specific talent. if they dislike it, it could show that painting is more a hobby to you than a talent

send one along with your stuff... any more is a burden on them and decreases your odds.

was painting your number one activity or just in there.

if you listed it as number one or wrote an essay on it I suggest sending it to them
