I have a question regarding the supplemental materials that may be sent in with the app:

How much supplemental materials should I send in with my app? Now they do say that they don’t like too much of it but what exactly is too much? I am definately not sending in a 50+ page one month transaction statement for my business but I was thinking more of like sending in detailed explanation of my various activities (say a page and a half per activity). This is because although my business is my primary focus, I also do a lot of research on my own (finance related) as well as the research I am conducting to be presented to different contests/journals. I also have several musical works and writing which consume my time.

Would having that 3-4 page detailed summary of my main activities be beneficial or is that just overkill? Is there anything else which may be a better medium? Thanks.

activity lists are fine and probably recommended. try to make it as short as possible but with as much clarity as possible as well. the last thing they want to do is read through a ton of supplemental stuff when they have ten other apps on their desks. make sure to hit the main points. be concise!

^^ While all this is true. I was accepted ED last year and I had sent roughly four pages of supplemental info, an activity list, detailing my activities with concise and pertinent info. I developed a chart, using Word, and wrote my details in paragraph form. 3-4 pages is by no means overkill, just make sure that your info is specific and meaningful.

Its fine but if you want to provide like 5 pages of supplemental material make REALLY sure that every word in those 5 pages is complitely accurate and NECESSARY for them to have a full picture of you. Dont just talk about not-so-important stuff.
What you should also do is maybe have a contents pages with a summary of your activities and then put a big heading EXTRA or ADDITIONAL MATERIAL (or whatever) so they know its not part of the MAIN application. This way they will not get annoyed since they will have the clear option of simply throwin it in the trash straight away if they dont feel like reading it. However, this way it is very likely they will actually read it to get a full picture of you. Make sure its all organised, labeled and clear - they love this. Its really important you make them loose the least time and so make the point really clear quick.

I personally had just sent an additional recommendation from Amensty International saying how much I volunteered my ass of - such recomendations and other material is extremely useful.

Thanks for the information guys. Glad to know that 5 pages isn't overkill. All the information in that packet will be important and will describe my more meaningful activities (there are around 4 of them). I was thinking of sending in recommendations but I think a thorough information packet will be a better medium.

Hate to bring this up from the dead but have a related question and don't want to waste space by starting another thread:

I now have two options:

Option A: I can send in the activity sheet where I talk about my more meaningful activities. Due to the unique nature of some of the activities it would most likely be ~3-4 pages (after all trimmings).

Option B: I can send in a one page description of my primary activity as well as several statements proving my numbers as well as various documents verifying my ownership stake in the business.

I am not stuck between providing a generalized view of my various activities or providing a very detailed view (including verification documents) of my most important (IMO) activity.

Any ideas on which path would be best? Thanks.
