I know that Stanford only allows for one supplemental letter of recommendation. I'm having trouble deciding whether I should ask my research mentor or my community service adviser for the supplemental recommendation. I would normally send in my research abstract but Stanford doesn't allow for that. Any advice on what Stanford would prefer? Thanks in advance!

what did you do research on?

Stanford only allows for one supplemental recommendation letter. I suppose if you had your recommenders fax the letters in instead of using the CommonApp portal the admissions officers might read both letters.
If you really want to send one, I would send the recommendation of the person who you know the best -and who knows you the best/the longest.

When we attended the Discover Stanford program, I specifically asked if more than one supplemental letter was permitted. The admissions representative told me that was not allowed and if too many letters of recommendation are received, they randomly throw them away until the maximum number of letters remains. They don’t read them first. It sounded like they selected the random letters to throw out from ALL letters received, not just the supplemental ones. If so, a teacher rec could be thrown away.
