I am sending in all Common App and supplemental materials before the January 1 deadline, but will schools accept materials later than that? I want to send in a supplemental letter of recommendation and the abstract to a research project I am working on, but they will not be available until middle to late January. Should I ask my school to send them in with my mid year report?

Yes it’ll be fine. Send what you have when they are ready, don’t wait on your school when it’s sending your mid year report. You’ll see that yours and about 20000 other posts about “deadlines” will appear between now and the end of January.

Remember: the colleges WANT to admit (tuition paying) students.

bump .

LOL: OK, it’ll be terrible for you.

C’mon — if it worries you that much, try to call the admissions office Monday. Admissions offices are not looking for reasons to SHRINK their application pile, but to increase it. Think about it.
