Supplemental materials confirmation

I sent in a research paper, essay contextualizing the research, and a rec letter from my mentor, among other things.

Though I followed Harvard's labeling instructions I'm concerned that they didn't process the letter because it wasn't specifically marked as a supp letter. Can they confirm its receipt by phone or email?

[Harvard College Admissions § Announcements](http://www.admissions.college.harvard.edu/announcements/applicant_message.html)

An Important Message to Applicants: Please Note with Care

“Supplementary materials such as art work, CDs, DVDs, research papers, extra essays, creative writing samples, and recommendation letters fall outside the purview of required documents for our decision-making. Consequently, they are not included among the items whose location you will be able to monitor either on-line or by calling our office. You should assume that they have arrived safely in your admissions file and that our officials will contact you directly if such materials are missing.”

Does Harvard want supplemental rec. letters labelled as such? All of my documents had name, school, and DOB labels, as per their request, but I didn’t specifically put “Supplemental Recommendation Letter” on the envelope containing the letter. It was stated in the cover letter though.

Will admissions have still scanned it into my file without the extra ID?

Everything that is labeled with your name, school, and DOB will go into your file; not to worry – Admissions Directors will figure it all out; they’ve been doing this for a long time. (William Fitzsimmons, the Dean of Harvard Admissions, has been doing it since 1967 – 45 years!)
