Supplemental Music

I'm a rising senior about to start college applications in July, and I have a question regarding supplements to the applications (especially for Princeton and Yale).

I've only been playing the piano for about a year, but I'm actually very good at it. Granted, I'm not as good as those kids who have been playing since they were 8, but for the time that I have been playing, I feel (and my teacher does as well) that I am very talented. Piano has been a major part of my EC's in high school, but I must say that I am not one of those prize-winners or competitors. I do it more for myself than for prizes.

So my question is this: Would recording a song at my level help me, hurt me, or probably not do very much? Would reviewers looking at my application consider the time that I've been playing, or would they compare me to pianists who have been playing since early childhood?

I welcome any and all input, so let me know what you think!

After looking at the specific requirements for piano (which are apparently higher than for other classical instruments), I’m not sure it’s a good idea for me to provide a supplement.

So never mind! And sorry!
