Hi, I'm applying EA and couldn't find anywhere on the admissions website or the common app. website about the possibility of sending a supplementary (non-teacher) recommendation, such as from a music teacher.

Thanks in advance!

Before anybody bashes me for not reading other threads, allow me to add that I have read others, and I am asking for specific proof that sup recs. are allowed (written consent on a website).

Thanks.

Look at the Application Supplement, the first category under 'OPTIONAL' is 'Supplementary materials.' If you are sending a non-teacher rec, check the last item,'Other', and then enter something like 'Music teacher's ref' where it says 'explain.'

If u want "specific proof that sup. recs. are allowed (written consent on a website"....here it is:
http://www.admissions.college.harvard.edu/faqs/admissions/app_reqs/

Should students send supplementary recommendations?
While we can make careful evaluations with required recommendations, we are happy to read helpful letters from people directly familiar with applicants' lives outside the classroom. Such letters are not necessary, however, and it is generally advisable to submit no more than two or three.

Thank you. That was simple enough - I exhausted every section of the admissions website besides the FAQ!
