Do you think colleges would accept supplemental recommendations written by private tutors (say, piano coach) for the student? Would they consider that a conflict of interest for them to write bad things about the person, so they would only write good things? If so, what if you just give them an envelope and let them send it out?

Thanks in advance.

i think conflict of interest probably if its someone you're paying

well, i might get a rec from my tae kwon do instructor, even though we are paying him. you piano coach has had a personal experience with you so i think its fine to get a rec from him/her. go for it.

thanks...i just think that if the piano teacher is writing it and sending it straight to the college, it shouldn't be too much of a problem, right?

p.s. this isn't for me, im already in college (WashU 09 baby!)...this is for my gf
