supplemental recommendations - send through e-mail?

Hi, I was just wondering if any supplemental recommendations can be sent through e-mail as a pdf instead of through snail mail? Thank you.

I don’t think so. Whom would you send it to? The admission officers are not the people in charge of sorting the incoming mails into the individual files; in most admission offices, they hire students or outside people to do that. Therefore, when a recommendation letter is sent in via snail mail, it automatically goes through the sorting process and lands in your file. If it’s email, you’re sending this to someone whose job it’s not sorting mails, and he may be too busy and neglects to print out a copy of the letter to place in your folder, creating tons of problems.

I know Dartmouth allows recs to be sent through e-mail. Chicago has a general admissions E-mail as well and I was wondering if it applied in the same way.

Username13, the general admissions account is used for question-asking purposes mainly. You should send the additional recommendation via snail mail to ensure that it gets filed properly.

Found out the answer in case anyone else in the situation needs it:

Hi,

Yes, you can have him e-mail this account. Make sure that your
name, common app ID, and date of birth is attached as well.
