Can supplemental recs make a difference in the application? I'm talking about a friend from high school, not a teacher. My friend can really say a lot about how I will add to campus life. Will adcoms consider that?

I wouldn’t have your friend write a recommendation.

If the rec is done constructively, well and honestly it might be a good idea. However for a rec from your friend you probably are laying too large a risk.

I can’t imagine an adcom being overjoyed at the praise you receive from a high school chum. Nevertheless, I might be wrong. in any case, good luck!

I don’t think a recommendation from a high school friend will carry much bearing…

well, he showed it to me and it talks a lot about how much i will add to campus life. would it still have no bearing?

Where are you trying to transfer? What does their Transfer Application website say re supplemental recs?

I, personally, can imagine very few situations where a rec from a hs friend would have a positive effect. I can imagine several where it would have a negative effect. Is the friend currently at the target transfer school?
