For those of you who are students at Brown already, do you think it is wise or a waste of time to include something in your application packet that is an EC-a video, CD of a musical performance, art project or photography. Son is not applying for that dept but does something very intently(sing and theater) and thought it may help to “set him apart” or show some individuality. Will the Adcoms throw it out, listen to it or possibly pass it on to the music dept for assessment?

49 people have looked at this thread but not one answer. Can someone please give me an indication if this would be a waste of time-sending an audio CD of a performance, or is it a good idea. Someone from another IVY said they were told it was a total waste of time-ADCOMS are just too busy to evaluate their supplemental cassette of a piano performance. Someone else told me to submit something since it may set you apart from the other applicants.

i dont know for sure, but i think most colleges request that all supp materials be sent to the related department at the college where whoever's responsible will review it and then give a rec to the admissions committee

someone told me not to bother sending a cd if youre not going to be a music major; the admissions committee doesnt look at it, the department does.
