CMC's supplementary essay: If you could invite anyone to speak at the Athenaeum, who would you choose and why?

Can this person be a fictional character?

The question is to write about who you would invite, I would go with real person. Not sure why you would focus on a fictional character given the vast number of people out there.

Your essay can be about anyone! If you can create a good argument as to why he/she should speak at the Ath, you can write about anybody (dead/alive; fictional/real).

CMCstudent206, thank you for your reply. In fact, we contacted the admission office, and were told exactly as you said.

You can write about anyone but do you really want to write about a fictional character when there are 6 billion real people to choose from. What does it say about you that you can’t find one real person to write about. With all due respect to Cmcstudent it isn’t about just writing an essay its also about selection of your invitee.

I’m a current senior and two people I know wrote about Mufasa from the Lion King. I have worked with the CMC Admission Office during my four years on campus and have heard of successful essays about everyone from Harry Potter to Gandalf. Good luck, txhandan!

CMCstudent was it the same essay for you and your classmates? Your classmates who wrote about Mufasa must have had incredible stats.
