For people who got into Brown ED, did you send a supplementary essays? Do you think that extra essays can help your chances or that the admissions people don’t want them?

I got in RD last year, and I submitted a long poem that I wrote as "supplementary material." I don't know if it affected my admission at all, but who knows? I wouldn't add anything extra unless you really think it adds to your application.

Sorry, just to clarify -- I didn't WRITE the poem as supplementary material. I submitted something I had already written. Definitely don't go out of your way to write an extra essay.

I had creative writing down as a potential concentration so I sent a piece of writing along with my application, which I guess might've helped. I don't think that it's necessary though, unless its going to somehow supplement the rest of your application.
