Does Penn frown upon additional letters of recommendation sent to their office? I have a great one from a charity I volunteer for but I'm debating whether to send it. Thoughts?

They generally frown upon it unless the letter touches upon another aspect of your character that your teachers/counselor haven’t mentioned.

Well it’s hard for me to figure that out unless I’ve read those teacher recs which I waived my right for…

I talked with my regional admissions officer personally when she came to my high school. She pretty much said not to if it will highlight something that is already touched on, but they will read/review it regardless.

I would say that this would be a great opportunity to send in a supplement because its from a charity (extracurricular) that your teacher/counselor may not know about. Also, the person can give their view on how you function in a job like capacity etc. I say send that. Make sure the envelope/letter has your name, bdate, and high school on it :)

Good luck!

Thanks I’ll do that! Just to confirm, is this the address I should send to?

I believe it is. You got that from the supplementary document off their website? That’s the one that I used when I applied ED.

Hope to see you on campus.
