If I am sending a creative writing sample, do you think sending five pages is too much? If so, what would be better?

I’m sure it’ll be fine.

A long set of supplementary materials is not necessarily bad, but you need to consider whether any of the material is redundant/not contributing at all the conveying your prowess as a writer. If, for example, you submit 5 pages of material, one of which is fresh and original, but 4 of which are trite, it will certainly cast a pale over both your writing ability, and your judiciousness and sense as an applicant.

Get other people, who have not read your work before, to read it and critique it to determine how much you really need to submit. Certainly a shorter but more effective piece may be preferable - one sublime page may be enough to have a solid impact, though of course five pages, as long as they are excellent on the whole, will never hurt.
