Supplementary Recommendation

when i sent my supp. rec., i used my unofficial name. would brown found out that this rec belongs to me? cuz when i submitted my app, i used my official name. should i call them and check if they received it or not?

What do you mean, used your "unofficial" name? Is it something like Joe/Joseph or Liz/Elizabeth? Or does your "unofficial" name have nothing to do with your real name?

nothing to do with my legal name. but middle and last name are same

You'll probably be fine. They'll let you know if they're missing something.

but how would they know if im missing a supplementary recommendation since it is not required? Wont they just assume that i didnt submit a supplementary recommendation? Should try calling the admissions office and make sure they received it?

yeah you should.. definately when you think that this supp rec can mean a lot to your application

Ah, I see what you mean. Yes, I would definitely contact them to make sure, then.

argh...
i called them and they said there is no way to know

My son had the same issue. He has always gone by his middle name, but used his full name when filling out the applications. I would send an email to brown admissions letting them know that you have sent in documents using 2 names- be sure to list both names as well as your Brown ID and social security #, and ask that they consolidate any and all files into 1 file. I would also have your college counselor contact admissions at brown as well. This kind of situation needs LOTS of follow through.
