im applying to the scs at cmu. I was wondering for the supplement essay, which is "why did you choose your major and what do you plan to do in the future.." well is it ok for explaining why i choose my major to talk alot about how i got interested into computer science....talking about stuff when i first learned about programming in middle school?? or is that getting off topic?

yea I think thats exactly what the question is asking lol.. I applied to Tepper and wrote about a couple experiences and what business means to me. I also wrote about where I can see myself in the future...good luck

i think the essay is meant to be informal just like what yours sounds like it is going to be, this way they see the non-book-gpa-sat you, your essay sounds good, if you do it right

do you think its bad to say "my ap computer science teacher recommended carnegie mellon to me." and then go on to say about how i researched them and found out they have a top cs school. blah blah?
