Is anybody taking it? All I know is that it's basically operations and logistics. Can any of you elaborate on what is covered in this major? I'll be attending ASU in the fall as an exploratory business major and this was one of the majors that jumped out at me, seeing as how ASU's SCM is ranked as one of the top 5 programs in the nation and that I really enjoyed doing the financial planning for a start-up I worked on last year.

I’m taking SCM, but am just finally getting into the upper division stuff this Summer…I’ll let you know. Lol

Anytime you get a chance at a Top 5 program, go for it. I’m not really certain about your program, but mine isn’t very flexible. SCM has 7 core junior and senior classes, while Finance only has 4. Of course MGMT and MKTG have less, but I’m not even considering those. I have space for only 2 or 3 business electives. The extra specialization may be why it’s one of the highest paid majors here though.

Supply chain management is the coordination of planning, sourcing, production, and delivery operations between companies in a supply chain. SCM techniques are designed to maximize profit among collaborating companies in a supply chain and decrease demand instability (controlling the bullwhip effect, especially for companies farther from the end customer). Operations and logistics are only small parts of the entire supply chain picture.

I am a mathematics major and economics minor, but I am working in an SCM group this summer at a major Fortune 100 company this summer. I don’t have any coursework in SCM, but I would recommend taking an intro course since you have access to a business school to see if you’ll enjoy it.

Is the position an inside department of a major corp. or is it consulting work?

^It’s a “file papers, check the mail, and input data” work.

What else would you want? EH?

It’s inside a department of a major corporation, derekallen2009.

And sp1212, the work I’ll be doing is not “file papers, check the mail, and input data.” Don’t be offensive.

Someone’s just projecting. lol…Thanks S_A.
