Are any of you going for this degree or know someone who is or did get a degree in supply chain management? Is there a market for this? Son has an interest in it and was just curious. Would love to hear some feedback.

Definitely a market, but one not well understood by some schools I think. Make sure your school’s program is recruited for it. I think some schools have just started their SCM programs and thus even if the school is good you might not be well advised to be a guinea pig for them.

Hi,

I recently retired for the Oil and Gas Industry where my speciality was Supply Chain Management. I can say from personal knowledge that a degree in SCM is a desired
credential in the oil and gas industry. Companies like ExxonMobil, BP, Shell, ConocoPhillips and others look favorably on such a degree to enter their SCM departments. There is a very good future for this discipline in the Oil and Gas Industry, at least as far as the foreseeable future. Big bucks, enjoyable, and great retirement benefits.

Thank you all for your input. It will be interesting to see what area in business my son will decide on when the time comes.
