I think it’s important that, no matter what happens tomorrow, we all remember that we are in the DEFERRED thread…we were deferred from an Ivy League school…c’mon, you’ve got to admit that says something! it’s still not a straight up rejection, and they can only take so many qualified students per year! honestly I’m pretty proud of my deferral…we worked hard, and one of the most prestigious schools in the world is interested in us. How cool is that?!
Yeah, remind me that when I’m crying over the rejection tomorrow - that it’s “not a big deal because I was special”
pessimism isn’t going to help
In that case, when we all get accepted, I’m throwing down. Everyone come through
Yes! In my mind, you’re all winners already :-c
I’m a potential applicant for Cornell in the future and I have been lurking around this little (well not that little) forum quite a bit in the last few weeks.
I just wanted to stop by and wish you all the best of luck with no matter what happens in the important moment that approaches. Keep calm and don’t forget to breath.
GUARANTEED TRANSFER!!!
How do you know you got guaranteed transfer? What did it say explicitly?
Deferred ED for architecture
ACCEPTED RD!
I cannot believe this is happening.
My daughter got the guaranteed transfer. The first sentence of the letter is a regular rejection. Then the next paragraph says something like, “In the next few days you will be receiving information about a transfer option from the college you applied to.” It’s easy to miss it because you just read the first sentence and think, “rejected.” I bet a lot of students never read past that and are are surprised when they get the letter next week.
Yeah, I have that in my letter, are you 100% sure that means GT? Usually they only offer GT to kids who get wait listed.
@jamesjunkers yes, 100% sure. You got the guaranteed transfer! Not true that only wait-listed kids get it. Some WL students may get it, but GTs do not come only from that group.
@brantly, I’m pretty sure I read in last year’s thread that this is just a ploy to get people to transfer, not a GT. Have you seen rejection letters that do not have this paragraph.
@jamesjunkers - You’re in. Conditionally, anyway. It’s worded really strangely and the first paragraph sounds like a rejection, but if you read on it should talk about the “transfer option”, which is a lot more concrete than it sounds. The letter on the portal is succinct because the “actual” decision email which is usually sent the following morning explains more about what you have to do (and is a lot nicer).
Edit: At the end of the day, remember that the transfer option is just that, an option. I think you guys are going to do great wherever you end up. Enjoy the rest of your senior year
@Coriander23, when you say usually sent the next morning, you’re speaking from experience?
@jamesjunkers - Yup! I received the email at 9 AM EST the following day. Mine said “Cornell University - CALS Transfer Option Details”, which is probably what yours will say too.
Thanks
Congrats guys for a GT !
GT as well! Although it isn’t ideal, I’m growing to be very happy with it!
