My online portal reads the following message, and I was wondering if anyone's whose says the same has heard back yet!
My stats-
GPA- 3.41 weighted, 3.35 unweighted
ACT- 27

"Your application for admission has been reviewed by Michigan State University, however, due to the increased application volume and quality of the freshman applicant pool for fall semester 2013, we are unable to provide further information on the status of your application until mid-March."

I understand it is still "mid-march" but I did not know if anyone has heard back who had the same message!

My son got a similar post today…different date.

“Your application for admission has been reviewed by Michigan State University, however, due to the increased application volume and quality of the freshman applicant pool for fall 2013, we will provide further information on the status of your application before April 27th.”

hey guys I applied 12 weeks ago, I just woke up this morning to find that “my application is currently being reviewed” so I am assuming they will not get back to you until the 12 week. literally I have 2 days until i hit the 12 week mark. I am a transfer student but I know a lot of HS students who didn’t hear back until their 12 week as well…we all hate waiting but i guess that’s what we will have to do.

Wow! you applied around the week of Nov 11th!?! that’s crazy, my brother applied around then and got his acceptance letter in his 5th week. The admissions office told me the the 2013 class for freshman this year was the biggest they have ever seen…needless to say its going to be highly competitive. GOOD LUCK :)

They wanted to wait and see another transcript, we turned that in right away. I am wondering if they tell you if you are denied via your “Application Status” login…or does one find out via postal mail?

Students can login to their portal at beaspartan.msu.edu to see the latest on their admission status (including denials). Physical letters are only mailed to students who are accepted.

My question for you guys is: Why did you wait until January to apply to college???
(except for the kid that waited until just November)
It ceases to amaze me as to how little your high school prepares you for applying to college. I never got that message when I applied (since I didn’t wait until 85% of the incoming class was already filled!) but I think it means you were wait-listed.

So by this I mean that you have not yet been accepted, but at the same time you have not necessarily been declined. Sometimes they may ask you for your 1st semester grades so then they can add those up as well into your cumulative GPA.

@NoNoNoNolan well excuse me there, It opened on December 1st, and I wanted to finish my 1st semester so I could send in my transcripts. Transfer students who appplied around Dec-Jan should not be punished, however, if a HS student applied in November they deserve to face the consequences of their actions…that being said MSU needs to hurry up and just reply so I can make plans for next semesters classes…ugh

My son finally heard from MSU on Saturday. He was admitted!!! The letter stated he was accepted for Spring of 2014 and still possibly Fall of 2013. Either way, we are excited!

Good job!! I still have yet to hear from them! its now been over 12 weeks and i called them and the was on hold for 20 minutes, and no answer…so im assuming that fall of 2013 is full now?

I applied October 1st and received my admission notification in late November. I don’t know why it’s taking you guys so long, that really sucks. Best of luck!

@sejine well my problem is I am attempting to transfer, and it seems that it some how takes them 3 days to review 8 classes and what they transfer to as well as they said it would take an extra month on top of my already 12 weeks of waiting to hear back…sounds like they need more admissions officers working

Yes it did take a long time. My sons GPA was not very good…so they asked to see his next Semester grades. All worked out for the Best. He was told he would find out if he gets admitted for Fall on or before June 1st!

@Dearbornistan - Hey, I have been following this thread for a while. I read that your application status changed to “Your application to Michigan State University is currently being reviewed” on March 27th. Mine also changed to that on the 27th.

I will be majoring in finance. Transferring 60 credits. I’m unsure of my GPA because I attended 3 different community colleges and never really figured it out exactly. My original plan was to get 28 credits and transfer to State January 2013. Then when I went to apply last summer, they were no longer accepting applications for the whole 2012-2013 school year! By the way things are looking, I would say the same thing will happen again this year.

I’ll be sure to post on here when I hear an answer. Best of luck to you all.

@mama13 I can understand about the grades, but June 1st! thats crazy, that is a long time to wait to hear back. How are does me plan on getting a roommate? Seems a little harsh on their end. I think that May 1st would be late enough. O well how many credits was he transferring?

He is not transferring any credits. He is a Senior in High School. MSU is now all done with checking his grades. If he does not get in until Spring, it’s not the end of the world. He can either take some classes at our local Community College or Oakland University is only 5 miles from our house. We are just excited that he got in! We may get him a single dorm, or he may choose to go blind into having a roomate. That’s part of the college experience, right? Good Luck! Keep us posted!!

@abh8812 Thanks for your input! Good to know I am not the only one in the boat! Hopefully we will hear from them soon. I am tired of waiting.

@mama13 Good luck to your son. What ever you do don’t try transferring in it is the biggest pain the the butt ever. And community college is a great way to get started and to get orientated with college ways of life.
