I was thrilled to be accepted to BHP/McCombs and hope it may still be an option for me. My financial aid was very disappointing because I received no aid. My EFC is 18K, family income ~79K and it seems that loans are my only option at UT.

Is there anything I can do? Any department scholarships ya'll know of? Even top 20 private universities have given better offers. Thanks!

Top 20 Universities will give better offers because they can and they are private. UT is of course a state run University and your tuition is already being subsidized by the tax payers of Texas. Hence why there is a difference in tuition for instate vs out of state. So with that said, are you instate or out of state? With and EFC of $18,000 you are close to COA for instate to the point you may not even be offered a loan. At that price, and your family income, FAFSA calculators will assume you can afford instate tuition given that EFC. I realize that is not always the case, but it is the “on paper” reality for your family.
