Are there any good surf spots near Irvine? How far is it to walk or drive?

It is too far to walk from Irvine out to the Pacific Ocean.

you'd probably have to drive over to long beach to surf. its 20 min away

you can surf in newport which is like 10 minutes away by car. down the 50's streets. i think.

yeah, you definately have to drive, but there is a lot of good surf, newport is closest (10 minutes to beach) , but Dana Point has the biggest waves i know of in the area (30 minute drive)

TRESTLES! It’s not that far.

are their alot of skilled surfers who will heckle & laugh at you if you just want to learn and teach yourself?

From personal experience, HB and Newport are good for shortboarding. Seal beach is okay for longboarding, but I’ve only been there a few times.

@UCkittychen: Not really, just be polite and aware of your surroundings. There are some areas, however, where local surfers are very territorial and will do stuff like knock you off your board.

■■■■■, omg. how ignorant.
