Surprised and hurt

u mean i should ask them what else i could do to get myself in?

Yup! Give it a try, if you REALLY REALLY want to go to wes. Try convincing them too, and you might just find yourself part of the class of '10 :-)

Last year I was not accepted to Wesleyan until the middle of June, and I accepted the offer. In order to try and increase my chances of acceptance, I did send them a letter telling them I was still interested and what I'd been up to since applying. I also sent in an additional teacher reccomendation, and the same teacher volunteered to call in and brag about me. It seems like a very high percentage of Wesleyan students used to be waitlisted, so don't give up yet.

I know a lot of people who were surprised at the schools that waitlisted them, and others at the schools that accpeted them. Sometimes the selection process seems to be so random, I really can't understand it.

you didn't find out that you were off the waitlist until the middle of JUNE? that must've been an agonizing wait...it's only april and i'm already dying to just be able to say where I'm going to school with some certainty.
Did you do anything else besides the teacher rec, phone call and letter? Did you have a hook in your app, like sports, legacy etc? Also, did Wesleyan contact you at all after May 1 about your standing on the wait list (letters, emails etc?) or did your acceptance just pop up out of nowhere?
Sorry for all the questions. I'm anxious and I heart wesleyan.

If you don't mind me asking, which St. Mary's are you going to?

To the person who was talking about 'considering' vassar, it's an awesome school and you'll find awesome kids and professors there. Don't consider it secondary to wesleyan, they're both amazing schools and the only big difference is location.
They both have good programs though wesleyans might be a little stronger especially in film, dance, and the sciences.

Hey, our high school Val got waitlisted. Not only did she have a perfect 4.0 in top courses and had 800 math and 660 ( I think) verbal. She also had tons of ECs. Thus, don't feel badly.

For ther record, she was just called from the waitlist.

I think I have a friend who didn't find out she got in off the waitlist until August - I hope I'm wrong, but I think that's what she said. She's having a fantastic time here, and doing very well, but she probably would have at other schools as well :)
