Surprised at Caltech's decision

How many of you were surprised that Caltech admitted you or rejected you?
It's okay to feel a little self-conceited, i won't judge you.

Given that we are nowhere near decision time, your sample is going to be pretty skewed... that is, I doubt very many people who were rejected by Caltech months (or I suppose years in the case of earlier classes) ago will be perusing these forums on a regular basis.

To contribute, I didn't really have any preconceived notions about the admissions process so I suppose I didn't really attempt to guess where I would and wouldn't be admitted with the exception of "safety" schools.

Agree with lizzardfire. I think my son was somewhat surpriused he got in since he comes from a small rural public high school that only offers a few AP classes and what is offered is all online.

I was a little disappointed I didn't get in for undergrad, though not really surprised. I was pretty surprised when I got in for grad school, though.
