SURVEY: Community Service Hours

Just interested in knowing:

How many service hours have you involved yourself in over your high school career?

-and-

How selective are the schools you're applying to? (Very Selective, Selective, Moderate, Easy)

bump, please!
thanks

Over my high school career, I'm estimating about 225-250 hours. More in my freshman and senior years, and relatively little in my junior year.

All my schools are extremely selective (Ivies)

300-400

Selective (UCs, mostly, and possibly a couple of selective-very selective liberal arts colleges)

I've got 400-500, minimum.

Selective to very selective, with a few safeties, of course.

wow people here love their community.....
I'd say like 100-200ish tops

About 100

highly selective (top 20)

800-900+

Selective- Very Selective

Should have 400-500 when all is said and done.

By the end of high school, 200-300 hours. I'll be applying to pretty selective schools (HYSetcetc)

600-700

Selective- Moderate
(Some Ivies)

Around 154k and counting. My mere existence is a service to the community.

Honestly not even 100, but oh well.

probably about 250-300

applying to selective-very selective schools

About 140 or so

i have a quick question, are these hours all for the same activity, or everything "community service" added together??

200-300, applied to very selective schools

So that evryone not doing much community service can relax:
1. Zero according to daughter's Common App. Sure, there were 20 or so hours of community service but daughter didn't mention them on the Common App as this was not something to brag about. Then some performances could count as community service, but there was no place to mntion this either. I think only one university specifically asked about community service, and she honestly listed whatever she had.
2. Most selective. With OK admission results. The school that asked about community service offered her a half-tuition merit scholarship (and is was a very selective match school, not a safety).

Just wondering, but how do you get around to having 300+ hours?

^ personally, i have around that many, and it is not that hard spread out over 3 years. It is close to 2 hours a week (2 hours x 50 weeks x 3 years = 300 hours)

Our school requires 95 hours of CS through 4 years of high school, so at least that--probably more like 250 for me--with selective-highly selective schools
