Hey I'm looking to apply to UCs next year, but I since I'm coming from far away, I want to have a decent social life; I don't want to be alone with nothing to do. So I was hoping that some of you could answer my questions:

1)Is UCSD mostly a commuter school?
2) Are weekends boring?
3) Do students often go home on weekends?
4) If you usually live on campus and don't go home, then what do you do for fun on weekends?
5) About what percentage of freshmen live on campus?
6) About what percentage of undergrads live on campus?

My personal opinions/guesses

No

Not if you don’t want them to be or you’re not studying

Some do, usually the ones who live nearby.

Hang out with friends, beach, sports, etc

I would say about 75%

I would say about 20%. Most tend to move outside campus after their first year or two, but most students live in the same apartment complexes so you’ll still be around your peers.

Hey I’m looking to apply to UCs next year, but I since I’m coming from far away, I want to have a decent social life; I don’t want to be alone with nothing to do. So I was hoping that some of you could answer my questions:

1)Is UCSD mostly a commuter school? No
2) Are weekends boring? If you’re a social person you will find people to hang out/party with. I really recommend you join a frat if you like to party. They can get wild
3) Do students often go home on weekends? Some So-Calers do (especially for long weekends)
4) If you usually live on campus and don’t go home, then what do you do for fun on weekends? If I can, I explore the surrounding area, go to SD, or go shopping. Most of the time I have get-togethers at my apartment. I know tons of people who throw small parties in their apartments. If you’re really keen on getting off, bring a car or make friends with someone with one. However, as a science major many of my weekends do consist of studying.
5) About what percentage of freshmen live on campus? Almost everyone
6) About what percentage of undergrads live on campus? Around 50%. Almost everyone else lives within a 5 mile radius of campus.
