Surviving the Ivy League

Hi all!

This fall I will matriculate to Brown University, and I had a couple questions regarding surviving the Ivy League:

1) How much sleep does the average frosh get?

2) Is the work load extremely difficult? (Over the years I’ve noticed that I comprehend material at a slower pace and my memory can be better, so I want to make sure that I know what my limits are)

Any advice helps!

Thanks so much!

Since you are new I will mention that there are separate forums for Ivies and many other colleges here, often with CCers who started posting in HS and continue to come back. One Brown alum, now a MD/PhD student just decided to retire, however there may be a couple others, it is not as active as some of the other college forums. Congratulations on Brown! My advice is to take 4 classes, not 5 your first semester so you acclimate. 5 is pretty hard although you may want to take a lot at least do it when you can gage the work load, though it is going to vary a lot by class and major. It is hard to get used to the idea that you can’t actually take everything you want in 4 years.

Specifically, try asking those questions here: <a href=“Brown University - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/brown-university/
