Surviving Winter/Spring Before Transfer

Okay. So every time at the beginning of year when the seasons change from winter to spring I end up getting sick as hell. I try to avoid this as much as possible by washing my hands a lot, not touching my face, eating a lot of fruits and veggies, and drinking a lot of water and green tea, but no matter what I do I still get sick. Most of the time I try to let my immune system battle it out and try to avoid taking medicine, but sometimes it's just too nasty of a bug and I turn to the drug peddlers at CVS for some relief. So, I was wondering what the rest of you do or take to get rid of your sickness? Help me out ppl. I must survive o-chem and physics!

vitamin C . Sleep and chicken soup

I ignore it. Though spending weeks having to run out of class to cough and gag is not fun…

I used to have the same thing where I’de get really sick in february every year. 3 years ago I got the flu so bad I dropped 13 pounds (which is a lot considering im already 123 pounds and 5’8) and I haven’t had any type of sickness since. I feel like working out helps, but that could be completely psychological.

i hate getting sick, i dont get sick very often, but if i feel like im coming down with something i take vitamin B12 and squeeze 6 whole lemons and down it. no water no sugar just the lemon juice.

bam i down that sh1t and dont get sick

Make sure you drink warm water, especially right after you wake up, one full glass of warm to boiling water. Boil ginger, make it into a drink, mix with honey. Cranberry juice is good too. Eat enough and sleep early. Other pills/nutritious stuff are just bonus. Maybe wear a scarf especially when its chilly/windy.

airborne! twice/day when i feel i’m coming down. when i’m actually sick with a head cold, nothing is better than neosynephrine nasal spray for breathing easy. the bummer is that nothing’s better than sleep.

now that i think about it the best thing is working out, sleeping better and eating healthy.

cut out the junk food and refined sugar and your body just seem to run better

I’d consider myself pretty healthy. I don’t eat processed foods, ride my bike to school (20mi-roundtrip), and do a lot of outdoor activities (i.e. ultimate frisbee!). I don’t get sick often at all, but usually at least once during this time of the year. Also, I always catch it from somebody else. Right now everyone in my house has been sick for about two weeks and a bunch of people in my classes are sick too. So I feel like I get infected with the mutant strain towards the tail-end of everyone elses battle; the one that’s nyquil-robitussin-theraflu-sudafed-tylenol-resistant.

Also, thanks for all your replies. Tomorrow I’m going to find a 2lb ginger root, 12 lemons, a gallon of cranberry juice, and some vit B12. I hope it stops my brain from draining out of my nose.

heh. I’m sick now, got it from my sister. Lost my sense of smell completely.
final next week…
But good thing I don’t need to “smell” anything to pass the exam…LOL.
