Suspended for Drug Distribution - Do I have a chance at getting accepted somewhere else?

I recently got into a bit of trouble getting caught up in a situation in which a little over an ounce of weed and a small amount of vyvanse was found in a dorm I was partying in. I’m getting a distribution charge because anything over an ounce is considered poss. w/ intent to distribute in my state and a regular possession charge for the vyvanse. Nothing was found on my person or in my possession directly but I’m still being charged with the school, however I’m facing 0 criminal charges and was not arrested so my criminal record is clean, if that matters. Because I did not want to waste 10k paying for this semester just to be suspended, I went ahead and withdrew from my university and have enrolled full-time in my community college to get the rest of my general education requirements out of the way and I’m also working full time. Will I have a terribly hard time getting another university/college to accept me as a transfer for this? Could the vyvanse charge be overlooked if I have a prescription and it was only added because the pills were not in the proper prescription bottle at the time? Will writing a letter explaining the situation to the college I want to transfer to, going through a substance abuse program and offering to take drug tests/entering school on probation help me out at all? Also I have a 3.2 GPA on a 4.0 scale if that matters.

It is surprising that you got into trouble for weed. I’ve known that to happen at certain NY state schools where the state police patrol sniffing for weed. Pretty lousy in this day and age. But I have known it to happen to students who ended up in much better schools-not necessarily saying that much but in the cases I knew, they were very good students who had ended up at the state school for various reasons but were better suited to stronger schools. And they were able to get into them despite having been caught on campus with pot. I think getting letters of rec from faculty members who will support you will make a big difference for you.
