Suspended...What To Do

Ok so i got suspended March 2 and sent home that day. The suspension officially starts March 5th though. I'm suspended for 5 days. Then after the 5 days are up, its spring break. So basically I come back the 19th of March.

My suspension notice says i got suspended for "DEFIANCE OF AUTH HABIT 01 VIO". I was suppose to get Saturday school for being late to an AP class that I am always late for. The teacher that teaches knows I'm always late because my class before it is too far. So we have to go to a room to get a Saturday school detention. If I were to get a Saturday school it would have been for March 10. While i was in the room i sat down. One of the assistant principles came in and said go sign your name on the paper to get your Saturday school. I said I'm sorry i can't, I'm always late to that class and this happen last time. I even took out proof of that notice. She said get up and go sign your name. I said i have far too much important things to do to get a Saturday school i don't deserve. She said it again. I told her i have SATs March 10th. She opened her eyes and said get up and go sign your name. I said ok, non sarcastically or anything, but waited for her to move away. She said I'm not going to tell you again. I said ok. She continued to tell me to get up, i said ok. Then she continued going on. I said you don't have to keep telling me to get up in a calm voice. She snapped for no reason and was like, give him 5 days suspension.

Basically I feel i got suspended for no reason. Now if I accept this I will be out of school for 17 days. That is more than half a month. When i come back the quarter ends in about 10 days. During next week i have a lot of important test and packets i need to do and get. At first i didn't care because i can use this time to study hard for the SAT and finish some online classes. But i realized that this thing that is not my fault will go on my transcript and i will be missing valuable IB and AP class time.

Should I bring my parents in Monday and try to get this suspension removed? And how would I go about doing this?

Bring your parents in but next time don’t act like a punk to that principal, no matter if you’re right or wrong.

Maybe you should try to sort this out with her and probably apologize to get the suspension repealed or you could tell her to give you an alternative punishment that is not suspension. Don’t know if its going to work though…

Should I bring my parents in Monday and try to get this suspension removed? YES! A five day suspension seems completely ridiculous. Our district has a book that details what type of offenses lead to detention, or suspension. Check and see if your school has this.

Do you have a guidance counselor or a teacher who might advocate for you?

If you are suspended, I believe the school is supposed to give you all of your assignments during the suspension. At least that’s what happens in our district.

I do have 1 question : If you are always late to that class because of distance, why did the teacher give you a detention?

that’s what I was thinking. something is missing in this story

In my school district, that’s a valid reason to get suspended. Its stupid, but that’s just how it is. Someone I know was suspended for something even stupider than this.

That’s scary!

Just bring a parent in and get this sorted out. It’s not your fault, that they are hard of hearing. Have your parents get angry and tell the school its unacceptable. Then have them tell them if no actions are taking they will go to the superintendent. Trust me it works and I would know. Some kid started a fight with me over a locker. I defended myself and didn’t ever attack my attacker, but we both got suspended. My parents called up and talked to the principal. I went to school the next day like nothing ever happend. Parents have the power. I’m telling you its all true.

The only two things missing from the story are:

1) A semblance of verisimilitude.
2) The truth.

Call your guidance counselor or teacher. Tell the Principal that the asst principal was being unreasonable with the classroom as your witness. And next time just sign it. And isn’t that a limit to what amount of time the suspension should last. Like in the rules or something use that. I’m pretty sure being disrespectful on the first offense is not the ground for suspension (esp. 5 day)

It was a hall sweep, before i can even get to my ap class they brought me to get a Saturday school. Its not the ap teacher that gave me it. Its the security and principles that brought me to the office. By the way i am not lying, this school is very corrupt. They were about to give me 10 days. If they were to do that i would make sure I earned the 10 days.

Im going to make my parents call early in the morning, if they don’t agree to a conference im bringing my parents straight to the school. I always try to be respectful and my teachers know that for sure. Im a quiet kid just trying to get work done.

Sue them. Go to the Superintendent.

I’d also contact my AP teacher to see if s/he could help in any way.

^^ This for sure.

“Basically I feel i got suspended for no reason.”

Disobeying authority is a reason you can be suspended in almost any major public school district.

The fact is i didn’t use any negative words. I in fact agreed with her, i said ok. I didn’t say no, Im not going to. A lower ranking administrator saw I was right, but she couldn’t really do anything. Even if I was “wrong”, 5 days is insane for what I did. Its not like i cursed or threw anything around.

I’ll agree that they should be suspended. But, unless something is being concealed in the story, 5 days is quite excessive. At my school you’ll get one for disrespecting but not threatening a staff member. Unless of course there’s prior disciplinary problems.

Wait, you didn’t get up though continuously after saying you would, and I dont think you told her to move so you could get up, and so she kept asking cause she assumed you were just f***ing with her, and when you never got up, that’s how you disobeyed authority. So if you don’t think you did anything… Keep telling yourself that.

^^that is true as well. 5 days for a first offense is excessive though. You most likely can at least get it down to 3, but don’t think you’re an innocent victim here. You provoked her consistently.

Couldn’t you have respectfully asked for a different Saturday School date, instead of refusing to sign the paper.
