He wants to go to all the top schools and stuff... what will this do?

Hmmm...I don't know, I really don't. I know if I was an adcom, I wouldn't accept him. I mean ya he can learn from his mistakes and whatnot, but what about the people that consistanly do well, and do nothing wrong? Don't you think the adcoms owe them the slots?

The author talks about this in A Is for Admission. She gives several examples of student misbehavior and talks about the effect this has on the admission committee. It's not an automatic reject but the specific circumstances could cause a rejection (for example, if he did something violent when he had been drinking or afterward or in addition to underage drinking). Your friend might want to look in that book to see what she says and how he should handle himself.

It looks like community college for you, um your friend.

If 'your friend' is the same age as you and he got busted at a school event then I'm afraid it's not good... not good at all.

I had three friends in high school who were suspended for having parties w/ alcohol. Two went to hopkins, one went to Northwestern. The point is: don't worry too much!

Yeah, a few people from our school got busted at homecoming for coming drunk. One guy applied to Yale and everyone was saying how dumb he was for drinking because his scholarship might go away..but that's just all rumours, he' still going to Yale.
