I have to write and appeal for my suspension from a few years ago at CC. Could anyone look this over? I don’t meet with my advisor again until Wednesday and would love some feedback before I turn it in to him. It’s a little less than one page and tried to keep it within the guidelines he gave me. I can get a bit wordy so I wanted an outsider’s opinion. Thanks in advance!
To Whom It May Concern:
My name is [ name] and I am writing to appeal my academic suspension from [school]. My suspension did not come as a surprise and I was very disappointed in myself for the decisions I made leading up to the suspension. I take full responsibility for my academic performance between 2009-2013 and have now had 4 years to reevaluate the circumstances and decisions that resulted in this suspension and have found a career in [career] that I am passionate about.
The last time I was at [ school ], I was immature and allowed my circumstances to become more important than my studies. I was not ready to attend school or put in the work that was necessary. In the time I have been out of school I have become a mother and a wife which has taught me a lot about the importance of schedules, priorities, good habits, and asking for help. I have also realized that in order to be a good student, as well as to succeed in life, I must have a growth mindset over a fixed mindset.
My plan to have a successful semester at [ school ], should I be reinstated, is to use the resources available both on campus and outside of campus. I will create a weekly detailed schedule of my coursework and complete it. I will take advantage of the time my son is in school to do my work and will be diligent in my studies. I am ready to work hard and do whatever it takes to reach my goals. I plan on getting back in good standing with [ school ], graduating with my A.A., transferring into the [program] program at [school], and becoming a [career]. Now having a career to look forward to that I am passionate about, I am confident that I will succeed in the spring semester of 2018.
Thank you for considering this appeal.
Sincerely,
