suspension & college admissions

Hi all.

No, I was not suspended, but some kid from my school got suspended for a week for blowing something up in Chem (on purpose!) It was nothing serious, just a mushroom-cloud of fire that lasted about a half second, but nobody was hurt and he knew what he was doing. However he didn't ask the teacher for permission to do this little "experiment." It's actually a funny story, but I was wondering how this would affect him if he decides to apply for HYP + other really competitive schools?

I have a friend who did something like that my junior year. He now attends Northwestern.

A kid i know got caught for cheating and got into Caltech, Mit, and Cornell. I got caught for having the answers to previous year's tests, but got into ucla, ucb, usc, and waitlisted at several ivies with sub-par stats.

I honestly think these suspensions didn't even play a big factor in admissions.

just outta curosity did you say that you got suspended on the common ap?

or did you "forget" to put it on.

yes i know thats bad but im just curious cause i swear suspension and cheating would be a big deal.

yeah what did you report on the commonapp?

no they matter, but it depends on what your counselor says.
If they say that you were bad and you were caught cheating and this affects your honesty and integrity, it will most likely affect you.
Dont think it wont, it really comes down to the counselor and whether he/ she will vouch for your case.
