Suspension in the last 5 days of School

Here's the situation. I have a four hour detention on the second to last day of school. I do not want to go to it because the whole thing is absurd. If I skip it, the punishment is some form of suspension. I am completely fine with that, and my parents are too (they got my back on this bs), but will I have to report this to my college (University of Southern California), and what will happen? I would appreciate any thoughts.

Your school will most likely report it.

It may be bs, but you should go to the detention. Its not worth the trouble of losing your place at USC.

Just go to the detention it’s not worth skipping.

I know everyone wants to tell me to just go to it and its not worth the risk, but please if there’s any advice out there how I could avoid this I would fully appreciate it. We have senior outing that day and I would not be able to go if I go to this detention and I’m already not going to prom. I really want to go to the senior outing field trip which I already paid for too so is there anything I can do?

maybe u should call usc and ask, its worth a try

Sometimes you have to do what you don’t want to do. Do your parents understand that your attending the senior field trip could jeopardize your admission to USC? The school will likely report it since you are refusing to take your detention. You can ask to do the detention on your last day of school so you can attend the field trip but if they won’t budge on that (and why should they make it convenient for you), then do your time. Whatever you did to get the detention, I hope it was worth it.

Just do the detention. Spend the four hours being grateful that you are not risking rescission.

Try being an adult about it. When adults do stupid things, they usually have to pay the price, whether they like it or not. And oh gosh, sometimes that price is even worse than having to miss a fun little outing. Horrors!

Stop whining and be grateful they offered you a chance to avoid having it reported which could affect your whole future. And BTW, it doesn’t matter if you think the whole thing is stupid; your opinion matters not one little bit here. Grow up.

Since you say that your Parents are supportive of your not participating in the detention assignment (“they got my back on this bs”) ask THEM to go to the School on your behalf and attempt to eliminate the reprimand. Unless you (or your parents) are able to eliminate the pending detention, you’re risking a suspension that could jepardize your acceptance to USC.

NOT worth it !
