I have been punished once in my highschool career. Two weeks ago i was caught intoxicated at a football game, and was given the minimum suspension time of 5 days.

How bad does this look if it is contrasted with an otherwise decent application.

3.7 (unweighted, skewed grading scale (94-100=A 4.0, 90-93=B+ 3.5, 84-89=B 3.0, 80-83=C+ 2.5))

6 AP classes, 11 Honors classes, 4's on both ap's taken thus far.
(average percentage is > 90 with 17 honors/ap)
Decent EC's including the technical director of a morning television show.

2040 SAT, 720 math, 650 verbal, 670 writing.

will that ruin my chances at the likes of UNC, william and mary, Bucknell, Wake Forest, University of Miami (Florida), Johns hopkins (legacy), and possibly Emory?

come forward about it on your app.

give them a written statement, maybe even try to sugarcoat it, and make it seem as innocent as possible.

Most importantly, in the written statement, make sure you express remorse, and that you learned your lesson.

suspension is a heavy strike against you, and its hard to say how much it will hurt your chances, but just make sure that you are honest about it, and ABSOLUTELY DO NOT BLAME ANYONE ELSE.

I agree about being honest about it on my application. Both my Friend who was caught and myself walked to the game so there was no impossed harm on our behalf to any other individual. It was not a trecherous, dishonest, or malicious infraction so much as it was a stupid infraction.

most important is don't say, "he made me do it" or "i don't see why i should be suspended".

good point^

blame yourself, even berate yourself for making such a stupid decision.

It's not as bad as being suspended for academic dishonesty, violence, sexual abuse, or vandalism, so it shouldn't hurt you TOOO much.
