does suspension affect admissions for UC's or Privates greatly? even if I have a lot of extra currciulars and my grades are above average?

they'll want to know about major disciplinary issues, but won't care so much about the minor ones. I lost some credits because I cut a few classes in high school, nobody cared. Just don't get a criminal record.

suspension is a big no-no. You should ask your guidance counselor what to do, possibly explain to the colleges after consutling the counselor.

mine was a minor suspension due to cheating would that matter?

probably..

oh honor code violation, is probably worse than a minor suspension for a minor act.

cheating isn't "minor" by any standard...

I agree with iostream cheating isn't a minor offense anytime. Having worked in an admissions office I can tell you that we did not even consider students who were caught cheating and suspended. I will tell you what we told them, "Everyone makes mistakes and you have made yours, but now you can turn things around. We suggest that you apply somewhere else for a year and when you have a clean transcript come back and we will gladly reevalute your application." In your case you might want to test the waters at some colleges in your area and see what they say. If not I would say go to a junior college for a year and then you will be a transfer student, the new college may or may not require a high school transcript. It sounds to me like you are on the right track now, good luck!

unless the suspension was in middleschool.
